National Cat Awards

National Cat Awards 2018 – entries now closed.

We are no longer accepting entries for the National Cat Awards 2018.

A big thank you to those who entered for sharing your uplifting and heart-warming stories. We are always touched at reading how much our feline friends mean to you. We now have the very difficult job of reading them all and choosing our finalists - tissues at the ready! Unfortunately we can't put everyone through, as much as we'd like to, so only those we are considering for inclusion in the final shortlist will be contacted.

Finalists will be contacted by Monday 2 April.

Public voting takes place on this page on the following dates:

Purina® Better Together Award, which celebrates the special bond that has transformed and enriched the lives of both a feline and human, takes place on Saturday 16 June and Sunday 17 June.

>Star Team Award, which celebrates a Cats Protection volunteer team which has brought about a particularly positive result for cat welfare, takes place on Saturday 7 July and Sunday 8 July.

Further information is available from or by calling 03000 12 12 12.

If you were unable to enter this year, be sure to keep an eye out for details of next year’s awards.

Good luck to all who entered!

The categories are:

  • Hero Cat – Cats that save the day
  • Most Caring Cat – Cats that positively impact a person’s health or wellbeing
  • Furr-ever Friends – Tales of friendship between children and cats
  • Outstanding Rescue Cat – Fabulous felines adopted from animal charities
  • Purina® Better Together – Celebrating the special bond that has transformed and enriched the lives of both a feline and human

Sponsored by PURINA® for the seventh year, a panel of celebrity cat-lovers has the hard job of selecting the deserving winners who will be presented with their awards at a star-studded ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London on Thursday 2 August.

The overall winner will inherit the title of National Cat of the Year from Genie – a cat from Lincoln who helped schoolgirl Evie Henderson battle bone cancer.
